Lion Dance Events
Over a decade ago, the UK Chinese Sports Federation (UKCSF) established the Chung Ching Tong Dragon and Lion Dance Troupe to promote this traditional art. The troupe has since become a prominent performing group in the UK Chinese community. They perform at major annual events like the January 1st parade and the Chinese New Year celebrations in central London, where they are joined by masters from Foshan, China, to perform the challenging “Plum Blossom Pole” routine. The troupe is now focused on training a new generation to perform these high-level routines independently, ensuring the tradition continues.
The troupe also plays an important role in community outreach, visiting schools to introduce students to the culture and history of lion and dragon dance. Their interactive performances have gained significant popularity. The group has been featured in media reports, highlighting its role in preserving and promoting Chinese culture. The UKCSF remains committed to supporting these activities, sharing the energy and art of lion and dragon dance with a wider audience.
